Iran will respond in some manner, and I believe Trump will seek de-escalation by not responding to their response.

Iran will likely toss a few missiles on American bases to "make a point", hence why America has been removing sensitive equipment and aircraft over the last month.

After Iran responds, Trump will be able to seek de-escalation and likely bring Israel along that path with him as there simply isn't any economic way to sustain the level of attacks Israel has been sending Iran's way.

The focus will now become to prop up discontent within Iran and hopefully topple the Ayatollah's.

Iran's nuclear program has been set back several years at the very least, and I doubt they will be given much leeway in terms of negotiations. The US and Israel will not let Iran rebuild anything near the level of air defenses and missile arsenal they had prior to this war, and Iran's only chance at prosperity will be to work with the US, and not against it.

How does this not absolutely cook the long game?

Let's say the regime plays smart, agree to abandon all nuclear armament and asks to sanctions to be lifted and the war to be ended.  It'll spend the next 20 years rearming to a capacity that will spend a better chance of stopping this from happening again before re-pursuing the bomb.  The US knows this, they won't want anything short of regime change, which they inevitably fail at.

My guess is that the Iranians will probably still insist on enrichment and the US may end the conversations there because they bombed their nuclear sites. Given how stubborn the Iranians have been even in the face of a gun which has already been fired then I don't see any reason why they would now agree to give up their nuclear program and they'll probably continue it underground one way or another. As for Trump he's been looking for a quick conclusion and this may be a good way to declare victory. Of course there is always the possibility that Trump will give up on enrichment and sign a JCPOA 2.0 which will be one of the more hilarious outcomes from this.

I’ve been a critic of both Trump administrations for many reasons, but today was a good day. As someone who enlisted in the Marines back in 2000 after 9/11, I take a certain satisfaction in watching this long-delayed vengeance unfold across Iran.
